Postal Service’s Use of Automated Guided Vehicles
This report presents the results of our self-initiated audit of the Postal Service’s Use of Automated Guided Vehicles. Our objective was to evaluate the Postal Service’s use of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in mail processing operations.
AGVs are powered industrial vehicles modified to enable driverless operation. The Postal Service expected AGVs would reduce mail handling hours, generate labor savings, and introduce automation to mail handling operations.
