With a rise of digital protectionism around the world threatening the free flow of data, a rise in authoritarianism threatening democracy, and the rise of China threatening U.S. competitiveness, there is no time like the present for the United States to recommit to global digital policy leadership—not by aping the anti-innovation regime of Europe, but by resurrecting and modernizing America’s original digital policy framework that led to economic success and consumer benefit.
