This report introduces the primary forms of international law and examines their effect on U.S. law.
It also highlights issues that may be particularly relevant to Congress, including the Senate’s advice and consent function, Congress’s role in interpreting and implementing international agreements, and the executive branch’s obligations to consult with and report to Congress about international commitments.
